Anime is for Kids?

As we all know, not all people love anime, although people are entitled to their own opinions sometimes their reasons for not liking anime can make us facepalm ourselves. 

Ranging from "because it's stupid", "it's not real", "it's overrated", "the only people who watch it are people who has no life" and most famously "It's only for kids".
 

Anime: Hakase Shinonome Nichijou

Does it make otakus mad? Yes it can. You see, they probably got those ideas from looking at pictures or from a clip or maybe on the TV. When I was a kid, I thought it was only for boys since Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto were the only anime that was on TV and made a conclusion that it was only for boys and refused to watch it. (of course I watch it now) 

Why does it make otakus mad? It's because you're making a conclusion based on a single footage/clip/episode, and because we know for a certain that it's not. Yes there are animes for kids but NOT ALL. 

Anime: Another

Animes aren't just fixated on one genre, it's just like your typical movie, except it's animated. Some animes are actually weird and really disturbing which is totally not suitable for kids.

It should be pretty obvious why it's not suitable for kids, it really shows disturbing scenes like limbs being cut down or people going on a murder spree. It's just really not suitable for kids and might actually traumatize them.

To Yaoi and Shounen-ai:
 

Anime: Maiden Rose

Anime: Sekaiichi Hatsukoi

Anime: Seito Kaichou ni Chuukoku

"Yaoi. A form of hentai with two or more males in a homosexual relationship."-dictionary 

It's basically men in a s3xual relationship and obviously NO, it's not for kids, although there is a genre called "shounen-ai" (shounen means boys and ai means love) and doesn't contain any s3xual scenes, it is still about homosexual relationship and to kids, it might still be a bit confusing.

To Yuri and Shoujo-ai

Anime: Citrus

Anime: Netsuzou TRap

Anime: Candy Boy

Yuri is the same as Yaoi and Shoujo-ai (Shoujo means girls and ai means love) is the same as Shounen-ai except it focuses on girls instead of guys. 

To Incest

Anime: Oreimo

Anime: Kuro to Kin no Hirakanai Kagi

"Incest is sexual relations between family members or close relatives" -wiki

There really are people who love their siblings or parents(not the general type of love), and to kids, things such as these might a bit too confusing and some incest anime might contain some kiss scenes and smut scenes. And of course, the possibility of them being influenced.

And let us not forget about Hentai

Okay, so it's censored because it's really not suitable for kids. Hentai basically means p0r*beep and yes I know kids these days secretly watches p0r*beep but still it's not suitable for them.

When you really dive in to the world of Anime, you can see that it's not all about superpowers, cutesy pantooties and the typical hero-type of story. And the ones I've listed are just one of the most common types of anime not suitable for kids. Gambling, Drugs, Depression, Murder and even taking Yaoi, Hentai and Pedophillia to the next level that it also takes the word disgusting to a higher level(Boku no Pico), remember ANYTHING can exist in the world of anime, of course that includes a normal-life type of Anime. And in the world of Anime the word Impossible doesn't exist.

So if you're right now thinking Anime is only for kids then think again before we use force to change that opinion(yikes! they'll probably recommend Boku no Pico) and the next time you hear someone says Anime is for kids, just recommend all the f*cked up anime you know. And just laugh it off.
